The beginning of March was a stressful, fretful, cheerful and fruitful month. There were some personal setbacks that sidelined me temporarily, but I got my rear in gear and released a soft launch of my first three works: Meowruru Mimi, Meowhalo Popoki: 1st Edition, and Meowhalo Popoki: 2nd Edition. While I had originally planned on officially releasing everything on this website, I figured I should just send these babies out into the world from the outlets where I already had a small audience: Facebook and Instagram.

I am happy to report that within two days, two of my dancing cats sold! I think I prefer to say that they were adopted. I put so much love and work into my pieces that I compare the experience to fostering and finding homes for cats. This is something I have done many times. The excitement quickly turns. You go through overwhelm, worry, loss of sleep, loss of mind, frustration, exhaustion, disbelief, discouragement, obsession, analysis paralysis and surrender. Then you eventually feel uplifted when the pet project is taking shape, growing, thriving, no longer just surviving, courage taking over, self-confidence finds its way back a few sprigs more than before and the warm fuzzy feelings percolate through a spent shell. You take a few steps back to admire what didn’t exist earlier in front of you now smiling back at you in gratitude. It is now allowing you to smile back and be proud of the outcome. Knowing my history of being a creative, I am fully aware I will go through this struggle again and again. Nothing worth doing comes easy all the time and I accept that. Besides, aimlessly knocking something out with no effort isn’t how I want to create and share my work.

The first person who chose to add my art to their life – you know who you are 🙂 – will always be special to me. Their support and belief in me mean so much. I hope my art will mean a lot to you all.
